Al-Qaeda threatens revenge for Zarqawi death

PARIS - Al-Qaeda threatened Saturday to avenge the killing by US forces last week of the militant network’s chief in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, in an Internet message addressed to the Islamic world.

“God has preserved the patient leaders, such as Sheikh Osama bin Laden and Sheikh Ayman al-Zawahiri (bin Laden’s number two) and their partisans, to continue fighting and to avenge” Zarqawi the message said.

i don’t know how to react to this without sounding partial either way.

therefore

may i have your reaction

on

whether this is such a superb idea?

if

not

then

what should be the reaction?

secondly, the internet is a tricky place. i was searching for ‘islam and the concept of revenge and forgivness’, assuming i could be an ordinary person, not necessary a muslim, looking for information. the sites are lethal.

there has to be patrolling (lol) of the net so that balanced readings can come to surface… otherwise the way we trip over our own two left feet, the oops just keeps giving way to another ouch!

May Osama and al-Zawahiri not meet the same death as Zarqawi. May their bodies find a way to a jail sell today rather than tommorow and may Allah never grant them the dying thought that they are dying a shahid.

Yes, maybe if the UN actually gets contol of internet content - but I’m not so sure I like the thought of that either.

    salaams.

i think another conduit we could look into is how much importance should we place on the death of zarqawi and on al-qaedah? personally, i think muslims got bigger fish to fry. zarqawi - what has he done for the plight of islam? what did he even do for the plight of the muslim people in iraq? and the same for bin laden? who are these people, really? if we put so much importance on subjects and people that we ourselves have not really chosen as important, then why are we thinking so much about it? muslims just about everywhere you go got much bigger issues to wrestle with. just my 2 yen. not a knock against you, ali. you know i love you, man!! peace

i think another conduit we could look into is how much importance should we place on the death of zarqawi and on al-qaedah? but Marqas, these are the people the west is placing importance upon. To be judged by th elength of your beard! so to say. there was a time not long ago, just a week before 9/11, when no one noticed whetehr you had a beard or not.I feel the spotlight has shifted and we do little to give a positive image.the concern is not imainary..i think..

Al-Qaeda in Iraq may well be a done deal based on the raids conducted after the killing of Zarqawi. Not so much the death of a leader, but the information and documentation that survived the attack. Addresses, cell phone numbers, etc.

The real problems in most of Iraq are not foreign jerkoffs whose assorted insecurities require them to blow themselves up in front of video cameras. That is largely a Baghdad phenomenon.

Here in Ramadi, most of the problem is with what are called “Former Regime Elements”, or Sunnis who were pro-Baathist and are upset about the idea of an Iraq in which they are not top dogs.
