Ali, u should read Bill Roggio and the Germans.

If u read between the lines, the "surge" is not an escalation.  General Petraeus is the co-author of the new  COIN manual.   (counterinsurgency manual)  The surge is a feint to draw attention from the fact that we are going to radically change the way we are warfighting in Iraq, to small local distributed warfighting models.

This is the new warfare, so either we evolve our warfighting or go extinct.  I actually approve of the new paradigm, it is futurethinking.

im talking about warfighting, not politics.

this is a new kind of war, with new dimensions of info-fighting.  if we dont learn how to fight it, we'll fall back on the old methodolgy, and that means, given the flattening of technology, eventually nukemecca will be a viable option.

it is better that we evolve.

politics should have nothing to do with warfighting.  the fact that it does, is why the killing continues.  the US is perceived as being unable to fight this war.  as long at that perception persists, the hirgabis will fight on.  if we cannot fight a New War, then we will unfortunately fallback to proven technology.  globalthermonuclearwar, anyone?

mutual assured destruction will not allow for thermo nuke war

nuke mecca is not an option for anyone

mecca is more likely to be attacked by muslims than the west

(as history proves)

stateless terrorists would be thrilled to see the US nuke mecca.  that would bring on kralnezac, the typhoon storm, where every muslim has a bound duty to destroy the West.

that is what UBL and Nejad want.  not the clash of civilizations, the war of civilizations.
