Help us raise $30,000 to purchase 1000 copies of the Muhammad Asad Translation and Commentary of The Quran. This is an alternative translation of the Quran that will be provided to Western mosques, libraries, Muslim chaplaincies, and student associations. This work resolves many of the errors and oversights of other English translations, one example being women's rights.

Update [2007-3-6 16:55:56 by Ali Eteraz]: I'm too hot for the radio. Some technical problems occurred and the show got cut off. We'll do it again next week and it'll be archived.
We're talking about creating a left narrative on Islamic reform. It's basically going to be a conversation. :
The first 30 minutes of the show is TBA, suggestions welcome, as we really don't want to talk about Libby, but we will if we have to. Our call-in number is 646-915-8560. We do want to hear from you.
Following a short news break Ian and I will begin the second segment with a discussion with Ali Eteraz on, as he writes:
[We need to discuss] how Islamic reform -- both in the Western communities and in the Muslim world -- engages with the Western Left. The western left has not shown any interest (and has had a lot of reluctance in being paitned as interventionists) they have let genuine Muslim reformers fall to the wayside, who are then picked up by Fox news, right wing rags and islamophobes. All of this ignorance towards the muslim reformer runs COUNTER to the Left legacy in the Cold War where it was the western left (or was it NOT the Western Left?) that promoted people like Solzhenytsin and others?
I'm very much looking forward to this.
