Help us raise $30,000 to purchase 1000 copies of the Muhammad Asad Translation and Commentary of The Quran. This is an alternative translation of the Quran that will be provided to Western mosques, libraries, Muslim chaplaincies, and student associations. This work resolves many of the errors and oversights of other English translations, one example being women's rights.

More news on Carter and his book.  At a forum in Georgia today, Carter argued that his "controversial" views on US policy towards Israel are considerably more in line with the opinions of normal folks than the MSM that has been so strenuously (and dishonestly, as illustrated by this egregiously flimsy smear job in the Washington Post) accusing him of extremism and hate-mongering since the release of his provocative book months ago.

On one occasion I witnessed such an encounter between a driver and a soldier who was taking down the details before confiscating the vehicle and sending its owner away.
"Why?" I asked the soldier.

"It's an order. This is a Jews-only road," he replied. I inquired as to where was the sign indicating this fact and instructing [other] drivers not to use it.

His answer was nothing short of amazing. "It is his responsibility to know it, and besides, what do you want us to do, put up a sign here, and let some anti-Semitic reporter or journalist take a photo, so he then can show the world that apartheid exists here?"

are truly outrageous.

Compare the inclusion in toto (which is highly unusual if not unheard of on Amazon) of Goldberg's jeremiad against Carter's book to how indulgently Amazon presents the infamous and comparably controversial revisionist book on Palestinian historian by Joan Peters From Time Immemorial.

Carter and the A-word

First, respected scholars Mearsheimer and Walt were tarred as raving conspiracy theorists for acknowledging the impact of that 800 pound gorilla--the Israeli Lobby spearheaded by AIPAC--on Washington Mideast policy and debate. Now, President Jimmy Carter is being called an anti-Semite for talking honestly about how Israel's treatment of Palestinians looks to its critics. His cardinal sin?  Using the A-word, even though by any objective standard the comparison is fair game.
