This is the project I mentioned earlier that I helped Avaaz.Org with.

Everyone please sign the petition.

Bloggers, please spread the word about the video. I really like this video. DJ Ruckus rules.

Our Friends Are In The Economist

Our global partners, Avaaz.Org, are in The Economist.

I got to chill with some of their folk in the city and consult on a really positive campaign. It's coming out soon. I like it a lot. No, I wasn't the token Muslim. There was also a sister in high-jab and a very fashionable Muslimah as well. I sat next to an MTV producer ("omg! omg! this proves Ali does it all to be famous!") who was able to resist hitting on me.

Check out the ads they ran in Israel/Palestine in Arabic and Hebrew (with English Translations available).

Avaaz.org aren't specialists, some people will complain. They cast a very wide net, say others. They are big picture guys, say others. And: That's exactly why I like them. They give us the ability to be part of a global community whose general worldview towards social justice is the same as ours. Giving us the freedom to focus on the things with which we are most adept. The biggest problem that change oriented people of all type have is that they lose focus and run around like "heads with their chickens cut off" (as my mother put it). Nietzsche, too, railed against letting "pity" run amock. His concern was that if you want to help humanity you do it by focusing on your strength.

Their climate change ad, featuring a sleeping GW, made it to the top 20 of youtube recently.

The esteemed activist site Avaaz.Org is now available in Arabic. Good day for Arabists.

Here's pictures of Avaaz Activists and their flags at the recent march in DC. And more.  The coolest part was how they carried a flag from every nation which had a signatory on their petition.  That should turn on the vexillologists among ya.

January 27 there will be a massive peace march in DC. Avaaz has a way for you to be represented without having to show up.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans will march to their capital city Washington DC on Saturday 27 January. It could be the rebirth of the US peace movement. People round the world - let’s join the march with our own global internet protest! Last week, our ad told decision-makers in Congress how strong world opposition is to Bush’s escalation in Iraq.

This Saturday, Avaaz supporters at the US march will carry banners and country placards announcing how many of us from each nation are joining the marching. Every signature will be counted on the banners! Let’s raise a global voice for a real plan to end this war. Let’s make those numbers big. Time is short. Join the global peace march and tell your friends today!

Go on the site and sign up.
